With the Holiday break right around the corner, it may be hard to get your children to focus on school. Not to mention how busy you are- with all of the extra work your doing in preperation of the holidays, it makes it even more difficult to regulate if your child is spending enough time focusing on their studies. Well we thought, "why not combine the two!?" Holiday fun with learning included!
Create a winter wonderland sensory bin by adding some Safari Ltd Penguins to an icy, water environment. Teach your children about Penguins and their environment. Here are some interesting facts:
-All Penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere, so you won't find any at the North Pole!
-Penguins have thousands of tiny feathers, and when they enter the water these feathers interlock, becoming water proof. It's like they're wearing their own waterproof raincoat!
-About once a year (depending on the species) penguins lose all of their feathers and grow new, fresh ones. This is called molting, and it usually takes a couple weeks.
Want to make this a creative exercise? Instead of making a penguin habitat, give your child the same icy sensory bin and have them create a North Pole Sensory bin, using figures from the Safari Ltd Christmas Toob as well as the Arctic Toob. Have them tell you stories using the figures and the environment, exercising their creative abilities.
